Copilot July 2026 Updates – Why you should care
We're shouting about it because it's been a fairly quiet update from Microsoft. But Copilot has just got some pretty handy updates that will benefit businesses with and without those premium Copilot licenses.
Check out below to find out what you can do now that your couldn't before..
Microsoft 365 Copilot (the one you pay a premium license for)
-Company Built Agents Can Now Be Published Across All Users
Microsoft has introduced a governed process for deploying custom Copilot agents across your company. Administrators can review, approve and publish agents into the Agent Store for staff to use.
This is a nice controlled process, so you can prevent everyone making half-baked agents and deploying them, instead have useful agents that have been verified. It's a great way of making one really useful agent that works well and giving that to all your staff that it will benefit.
Maybe a nice onboarding agent for new staff, or an agent that handles sales proposals?
How to deploy company wide agents?
If you've built an agent and want to deploy it to the rest of the company, head over to Microsoft learn to see the steps from within Copilot to publish it and request approval. Then get your Admin to take a look in the Admin Center -> Agents to review it.
Company Prompt Gallery
Everyone knows how to ask a question in Copilot. But when you've spent time crafting the perfect prompt, covering all the bases, and you need to use it again another time.. Or better still, want to make it available to other users in your company?
365 Admins can now save prompts to prompt library available to all users. This makes finding the prompts easy, and standardises the quality of your users' input to Copilot.
How to Save a Prompt?
Just hover over a prompt you've typed and press the bookmark

Claude in Copilot as a model choice
Now when you're starting a chat with Copilot, you can choose which model you want to use, and Claude from Anthropic is an option. It needs to be allowed by your Admin, and we strongly suggest you get that AI policy and training in place before you go entering any personal data in, but Claude is an option as a model. This is especially useful if you're asking for help with code, long document analysis, or deep research.
How to switch to claude in Copilot?
Just click the 'Auto' drop down in the top left of the chat window and pick your model.
Copilot Tasks view
If you've tasked Copilot with a particularly long or complicated task, you can now leave it to it, and come back later. The tasks view allows you to check on it's progress. No more sitting and waiting for Copilot to finish, just set it a task and move on.
Where to find the Tasks view
On the left pane of Copilot, just click 'Tasks'
Copilot Cowork Generally Available
It's been in preview for a little while, but now it's generally available. Making more use of the partnership with Anthropic, Cowork is a big shift in how you can work with Copilot. It is much more task focused, it can work autonomously, just notifying you if and when it needs input.
Rather than asking Copilot to do something, explain to Cowork, you want to have a monthly update with a client. A short while later, Copilot Cowork has gtahered up your email, lists, planners, documents and put it together in a branded powerpoint explaining where the project is at.
Same word of warning. Anthropic may process data using servers in the US. They are a subprocessor of Microsoft, so you can still be ok to use them, but review both oftheir processing documentation. If you haven't put in the policies, training and safeguards, this could open you up to GDPR concerns. Do an assessment first so you know you're using the tool in a safe and compliant way.
Where do I find Copilot Cowork?
It's on the top left corner of Copilot
